A group of university students have set the acceleration record. The new fastest 0-62 mph is placed at 1.513 seconds. The vehicle is completely electric and hand built by students attending the ETH Zurich university and and Lucerne’s University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
The car weighs no more than 370 pounds, is manned by one person, and contains 4 independent motors for each of its wheels. Electric vehicles are setting land speed and acceleration records left and right, leaving their petrol counterparts in their eco friendly dust.
To put the acceleration speed in perspective here are a few comparisons:
- SUPERMAN: Escape from Krypton (Six Flags Magic Mountain) : 0-60 = 3-4 seconds
- Free falling while skydiving: 0-60 = 2.75 seconds
- Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid: 0-60 = 2.2 seconds
The vehicle is from from street legal but the technology discovered by these students could help auto racing leagues reach news horizons.
Remember, do not just believe what we say. Research what we say!
