DONNA SUMMER has sadly passed away at the age of 63 in Florida following a courageous battle with breast cancer.
The 63 year old Grammy-winning super star was born in the Dorchester neighbourhood of Boston, Massachusetts, LaDonna Adrian Gaines, known by the stage name Donna Summer, was an American singer/songwriter who gained prominence during the disco era of the 1970s. She was the first artist to have "three consecutive double albums" reach number one on the U.S. Billboard chart, and she also charted four number-one singles in the United States within a thirteen-month period. Donna Summer was recently focused on trying to finish up an album she had been working on. Her website DONNA SUMMER DOT COM dislays her latest albums TO PARIS WITH LOVE and CRAYONS. We all danced to her powerful disco ANTHEMS, as she lit up the dancefloors of the world with that spectacular voice full of dynamic clarity. Donna Summer continued her dominance of the charts throughout the 1980s with songs like "She Works Hard for the Money" and "This Time I Know It's for Real." Donna Summer and her producer Giorgio Moroder defined the "dance music" era of the '70s and influenced acts like Phil Oakey of The Human League, Duran Duran and David Bowie to enter the dance genre.

The lyrics to this special song are below (so that you can sing along, of course!):
BEST OF FRIENDS
We're the best of friends, heart and soul
Head to head, toe to toe
I'm not letting go
We're the best of friends, I thought you knew
That the best I am, is beside you
We're a couple of comfy shoes
Oh together we're a pipe dream
All lit up and smoking
'Bout all the things we'll do
Oh together we are wishes
My aren't we delicious, Coming true
We're the best of friends, are we wise
Thinning hair, fuzzy eyes
Your face is my best surprise
We're the best of friends, I'm here to say
It was me and you the whole darn way
Thanks for the chance to play
Oh together we are magic, together we are mystery
I think we may have soul
Oh together the world is brighter
Lovers fools and fighters, on a roll
We're the best of friends, the drift the sway, the give the take
The day to day, a bit in each others way
And when it's time, to let you go, at the last we'll always know
That it started long ago, with a simple quick hello
Hello we're the best of friends
